I can’t wait to see the Yeah Yeah Yeahs on May 26 at the Riviera Theatre and Gogol Bordello on May 31 at the Congress Theatre here in Chicago. I saw the YYY’s 3 years ago and they , if not the teenage audience, were great. I hope it’s an 18 and over show for grown-ups, but no matter. I love the dancey sound of It’s Blitz, their latest album and would love to hear how these songs sound live. I love Brian Chase’s precision drumming, Nick Zinner’s buzzing guitar, and Karen O’s soaring and alternately simmering voice. On a girly note, I can’t wait to see what she’ll wear!

I also love the gypsy punk of Gogol Bordello, the multiculti band led by the crazy and entertaining lead singer, Eugene Hutz. I saw them in the hot hot heat of Lolla last summer, and want to hear their music in a more intimate setting. The summer concert season is off to a great start.
